Abstract:
A lot of our day-to-day time is wasted waiting in queues for one service or another. Although the world is rapidly transforming toward the digital age, still many services like visiting for a checkup at the clinic, dining at a restaurant, shopping at the mall, buying coffee, etc., require physical presence. Waiting in the queue for these services takes significant time and effort. However, this waiting time can be avoided if customers know beforehand about the number of customers and serving employees at their service location of interest which they wish to visit. This paper describes a working framework that provides information on the customer or employee count of various service locations to potentially interested customers beforehand, so they can figure out a good time to visit the service location of their interest. This is accomplished by applying cloud-based Computer Vision on still images of service locations to count the number of people. This proposed system is developed on an Android-based application that can be implemented on servers, Android-based mobile phones, or even in cloud servers. The method used for customer and employee count works efficiently with the sparse and dense crowd also.
